Our Initial Ideas

We started off by deciding on which genre we would like the music for our video to be and we chose RnB. This is because we both enjoy listening to music of this genre and are therefore familiar with the codes and conventions of RnB music videos.

Then, we started listening to our favourite songs and chose three which we thought would be convenient to use for our coursework. These were:

1. Beyonce - Brown Eyes
  

2. Beyonce - Dangerously in love 

3. Rihanna - Cry

After a discussion, we felt that Brown Eyes by Beyonce would be the best song to do our music video to.

Once we had decided on which song we were going to use for our music video, we jotted down our initial storyline ideas as shown below...

My AS Skills Audit

I used the experience of my AS Media Studies work to rate the criteria on the skills audit shown below. I will be aiming to improve the areas where I haven't scored highly, in my A2 course. I will do this through meeting the targets which I have set myself.

Case studies

I looked at two main case studies, one focusing on Madonna, how she changed over time as well as how her music videos have changed over time and the other being on Jay-Z and his music video to '99 problems'. These notes have been shown below:
